F1's Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: Where collaboration will unlock success
F1 partnership update | Baden, Switzerland | Mar 16, 2023
Our F1 partner Sauber Motorsport, and its Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake, head to Jeddah this week for the second round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
The squad made an impressive start to their 2023 campaign, with Valtteri Bottas securing points with a P8 at the Bahrain Grand Prix, while Zhou Guanyu set the fastest lap to take a point away from rivals.
On Sunday, the team will aim to continue its point-scoring streak on the street circuit that snakes along the Jeddah Corniche.
As always, Sauber’s 60-strong trackside team will be supported during race week by a second team of up to 25 engineers working from an operations room at Sauber’s base in Switzerland, close to Accelleron’s headquarters in Baden.
This team plays a vital performance optimization role, especially during the three practice sessions on Friday and Saturday when final set-up adjustments to the cars are made. Live data, from around 200 onboard sensors, is sent directly from the track, and is analysed with the help of a full-size simulator to validate adjustments that will give the drivers a competitive advantage.
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix starts on 19 March at 2000hrs local time. Keep an eye on our partnership page after the race for a selection of the best race photos.
